Georges Augustin Barbier, (1882–1932) was one of the most famous French illustrators of the 20th century.
He designed theatre and ballet costumes, he illustrated books, he produced haute couture fashion illustrations and he was also interested in jewellery, glass and wallpaper design.
He led a group from the Ecole des Beaux Arts who were nicknamed by Vogue “The Knights of the Bracelet” and in the mid-1920s he worked with Erté to design sets and costumes for the Folies Bergère.
